In honor of Rachel Maddow being back from Afghanistan and going on Meet The Press today, another Rachel/booze post!

Rachel appears to have two favorite cocktails, though she may just throw the term around every time she has a new favorite. Still, this is a good one, as well as being a video tutorial that harkens back to the glory days of radio-style Rachel Maddow. The recipe is as follows:

JACK ROSE

· 2 oz Applejack
· 1/2 oz Grenadine
· 1 Lime, juiced

Shake the ingredients and strain into a martini glass.

The other cocktail Rachel has called her favorite is the Sidecar, though unfortunately the original post in which she made the claim is lost to the annals of time due to the collapse of Air America.

SIDECAR

· 8 parts Brandy (get something nice. Pay at least $16 or you’ll be disappointed)
· 1 part Cointreau
· 2 parts Lemon Juice (do yourself the favor of using fresh-squeezed)

Get a shaker. Put the liquid ingredients in a shaker. Then make your tray of glasses, martini glasses if you’ve got them. Sugar the rim by rubbing the rim of your glasses with the squeezed out lemon, and then dip the rims in a saucer of sugar. When you’re ready put ice the shaker, shake it up, and then strain the drink into your prepared glasses.
